Large, vibrant downtown church in Charlotte metro region seeks a talented, energetic and dynamic part-time Worship Leader to grow an emergent/alternative service.  Candidates should have a love of and commitment to Jesus Christ + demonstrate a high proficiency in one or more instruments, with use of media software essential.  Working with pastoral & music staff, the Worship Leader will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the service, including music, visuals, drama, and other worship content.  15-20 hours per week.  Bachelor’s degree required, with study in music/worship/religion a plus. PART-TIME CHILDREN’S CHOIR DIRECTOR for First United Methodist Church (FUMC), Hickory, NC. FUMC has a friendly and supportive staff and congregation with great passion and enthusiasm for ministry. FUMC seeks part-time staff member in our children’s music ministry program.  Duties include selection, instruction, and leading the performance of 2 Children’s Choirs incorporating Orff Education instruction.  This staff member will lead worship at least quarterly including but not limited to anthems, hymns, and spoken worship selections.
Candidates should be enthusiastic, creative, and energetic, with a vision for continuing this vibrant children’s music ministry.  Position is active for approximately the duration of a school year with service participation at intervals throughout with emphasis on Advent/Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost.
Minimum Qualifications:  Basic Piano proficiency, excellent sight-reading skills, passionate about Children’s Music Ministry. Must provide your own transportation to and from rehearsals and worship services.
Desired Qualifications:  Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Education, Sacred Music, Performance, or equivalent work experience. Familiarity with Orff or similar instrumentation; ability to motivate and communicate effectively; be willing to work in a team of ministry professionals with energy and creativity.
Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours weekly during the active period, including preparation.  Salary is calculated at $2500 per year, depending on weekly responsibilities.
Additional Information:  This position offers an opportunity for expansion of the Children’s Music Ministry at FUMC.  It is the ultimate goal of this position; as the position grows, so will the duties of the Children’s Choir Director, time commitment, and salary.

ORGANIST

Part-time organist [15-20 hrs. week] for 1800-member church in metro Charlotte area with a tradition of excellence in music ministry and mission to the community.  Two Sunday morning services, festival services, concerts, weddings/funerals.  Accompany Chancel Choir, soloists and ensembles. Bachelor’s degree required [organ major preferred], with additional study in sacred music a plus. 5-7 years experience as an organist preferred.  73-rank, three manual Moller organ (1956/renovated 1997) and antiphonal organ in sanctuary; Cornell Zimmer organ (2006) in chapel.   The applicant should demonstrate knowledge and commitment to traditional and contemporary music of the Church within a liturgical, United Methodist context.  Come and join an outstanding ministry team.  Salary range $20,000-25,000.
